Resistor Colour Codes


1st and 2nd Band

Black = 0
Brown = 1
Red = 2
Orange = 3
Yellow = 4
Green = 5
Blue = 6
Violet = 7
Grey = 8
White = 9

3rd Band

Multiply by number of zero's

4th band

Tolerance

Brown 1%
Red 2%
Gold 5%
Silver 10%
Green 0.5%
Blue 0.25%
Violet 0.1%
If the resistor has 5 bands, the first 3 bands you convert on the colour chart and get 3 numbers. The 4th band will be the multiplier and the 5th will be the tolerance of the resistor.
